What is SEO?
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization.
So what does that mean? When
you build a website, a web page, app or any web form, your main target is to
get visitors and bring more traffic to your website. But as you know, the
Internet is not something that has only your website, there are millions or
maybe trillions or even more websites and web forms included there. So how does
someone find your website in this mess? That’s what search engines are
for.
Then what is a Search Engine?
A Search engine is something we
to find anything across the web and all we need to do is enter our search term
which is the content entered into the search field of a search engine. It can
be one word or many. As a result, you get SERP which is called a Search Engine Result Page, the
pages you see after you type it in and that includes results of websites or web
forms, according to your Search
Term. Example for search engines: Google,
Bing, Yahoo, etc..
Therefore, if your website is
in those search engine result pages and a visitor can see it and they will go
to your site. But what will happen if they can’t see your page there? You won’t
get visitors.
Another thing, users will
mostly go to what is on the first SERP, if your website is in one of the pages,
and users mostly go to what they see on the first SERP, that will also will
lead less traffic to your site.
Now as you can see, you need to
get your website or web form displayed on the first SERP and it’s even better
if your website or web form shows as the first result on a SERP. Because that will lead lead you
to more traffic, of course.
You have to do something with
your website or web form to be first on the SERP. That’s where optimization
comes in and there are steps you can follow and then your website or web form
can be seen first on search engine result pages. That’s what Search Engine
Optimization is all about.
When people search for something
using their search term in a search engine they get some results on SERP and
from those they decide where to go next, and when a site has great
content and if it is what they are looking for then they trust that site and
usually visit there and naturally use it to become customers or regular users.
But there is no button as like SEO
to press anywhere or some one-time process. SEO is an ongoing process, but
there is also no sequence to do this process. That’s something you need to
understand about your website and its content and how it acts in social media
networks and if you
want to be found in a SERP then this is a process, technique designers,
developers and everyone else should understand to increase the number of
visitors to a website.
